I love knitting projects that are both adorable and stylish, and this little violet poncho for babies is one of my favorites. The main body is knit with a beautiful cable pattern, and the soft hood and ruffled trim make it even more special.

How I Made It
I started knitting this poncho from the bottom up by casting on 130 stitches. I began with a border of 2 rows in garter stitch, then continued in stockinette stitch. For the body, I knit the outer sections in stockinette and used the center stitches to create two beautiful horseshoe cables. I also added shaping by decreasing stitches symmetrically to taper the poncho toward the neck.
When the body was complete, I knit the back and front sections separately to create the neck opening. I then picked up all of the stitches and knit a hood in stockinette stitch, working until it was the perfect size. For the finishing touch, I added a drawstring using a simple eyelet row at the top and sewed ruffles to the hemline and hood. The result is a cozy and unique poncho for any little one.
