SIZE and PROPERTIES of BABY BLANKETS

Most of our mothers have kept the blankets used for us when we were babies. When we have a baby those blankets get out of the boxes, get washed, aerated and are used for our babies.

Baby blankets are generally  prefered in square shape rather than round or rectangular. When you lay the blanket over your baby, when you swaddle or take your baby in your arms within the blanket, you see that square shape is really a better choice.

The smallest size of a baby blanket should be 75x75cm.

But the best and optimum size is 90x 90cm.

If you would like to knit or crochet the blanket in rectangular shape, the width must be at least 75 cm. and the length might be 85 cm, 90 cm, or 95 cm.

Of course these sizes are standard sizes. You can, for sure, make your blanket with sizes you need to.

And the most important point of knitting a baby blanket is the kind of the yarn you will choose. The yarn has to be a very high quality one. You should choose a cotton yarn preferably. The yarn must be washable and durable, and must never be hairy.
